ACFAI is a non-profit research center committed to leveraging AI to empower communities, promote sustainable development, and alleviate poverty across Africa. It comprises a global network of over 20 AI researchers, practitioners, and changemakers representing diverse disciplines spanning computer science, engineering, mathematics, law, management, economics, and other fields.

Empower Africa through positive Artificial Intelligence by developing impactful AI solutions, promoting responsible governance and risk management, and driving awareness, outreach, and inclusion across the continent.
Values
Artificial intelligence must be human-centered and contextually grounded. We champion “positive AI” guided by principles including safety, security, transparency, and ethical integrity, while remaining responsive to Africa's unique social, economic, and environmental contexts.
Vision
A vibrant pan-African ecosystem where researchers, policymakers, technologists, and citizens work together to ensure that AI becomes a positive catalyst for change across Africa — with partnerships across universities, civil society, governments, and the private sector to build AI development rooted in African values, expertise, and priorities.
